Spring Melt Laplatte River Plein Air

Oil on panel, 9×12 plein air. Spring at Laplatte River

The sound and motion of the spring melt along the Laplatte, after silent winter, was wonderful. I tried to capture the rush of the water in oils this afternoon. Old plane tree beautiful, not a native to this area, multi-coloured  bark very distinctive. I took along just white, cad lemon, ultram. blue and transparent red oxide, and aliz crimson. Trying out a very lightweight plastic palette, with a piece of foam-core duck taped to it. I clip my panel to the foam-core. Easier to carry.
